Shanes Sporting Clays – 5th Annual Drake Naylor Invitational May 5, 2011

I have been am avid shot-gunner for many years. Before having 4 kids I would often pack up and go shooting on weekend of trap or skeet. I was than introduced to Shane Naylor and his dad Tom owners of Shane’s Sporting Clays in Summerfield, NC. That was in 1991 when Shane and Tom would actually pull the traps themselves and we would make up shots as we went along. Great guys and great times!

Shane was still in college and we became good friends over the following years. Shane was and still is a phenomenal shooter and his targets where always first rate. Years had passed and I got away from shooting all together and took a 5 year hiatus. Shooting wasn’t fun for me anymore and it became like a job I didn’t like.

Than once my kids got older I started back into shooting and took my sons with me. We had a great time and shooting sporting clays was fun again. Of course living in Lexington, NC Shane’s was a great place to take my kids and we always had a great time visiting with the Naylor family. Their hospitality, friendship and stories made you always feel at home.

Shane had a son Drake, with multi disabilities and from the love he shared for his son and with the help of  his family they started the Drake Naylor Invitational. My son and I attend the first shoot and not only was it a great tournament but it was for a greater cause. Shane donated the proceeds of the tournament to the Greensboro Cerebral Palsy Infant Toddler Program. To date they have raised more than $150K and with your continued support that amount will greatly increase. It’s a great tournament with great targets, great food, wonderful people and a greater cause. It’s one tournament that all participants can say they are winners for participating. Mark your calender for May 29,2011 for the 5th Annual Drake Naylor Invitational. For more information contact them at or call them at: 336-643-7168
